Speada Youth Charity is run by the inspirational Carly Hain
Young Carers Group
Speada understands there to be 150 young people in West Norfolk that have no carers group available to them and subsequently no access to appropriate help and support. There is a waiting list for groups that are in operation. This group offers Young carers aged 7 – 19 years old a regular break from their home environment and the opportunity to meet, mix and sharing experiences with other young people in similar situations.
Speada offers support and advice from qualified Youth Workers, signposting to partner agencies for further support and information. Not forgetting of course, the opportunity of experiencing childhood through fun activities and workshops, providing young carers with the comfort of knowing, they are not alone. Each club night they also provide the young carers with transport and a hot meal.
Speada tries to give carers a respite, in the form of a residential break at least once a year and encourage involvement for those that want to take it on.
They currently run 2 young carers groups on Wednesday evenings (term times):
Group 1 – for ages 7-13 years old and runs in Terrington St Clement at 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Group 2 – for ages 13-18 years old and runs in Terrington St Clement at 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Visit their website for further information and contact details.
